Rosemary’s Baby – T.O.P.Y World Network System (Italy) 1985

Rosemary’s Baby Theme / See Woman See Human / Beyond The Vortex

Om / The Power Of Love

Very rare 12″ record from this Italian Temple Of Psychic Youth inspired outfit, a record that got me a knuckle slapping from Genesis P’Orridge when one day he caught me upstairs at his home in Beck Road, Hackney, giving it a spin on the record deck.

No trouble with the record as T.O.P.Y. were distributing it, or me using his record deck. The problem was the fact that his young daughter Caresse P’Orridge was in the room at the time, and Genesis did not appreciate the young P’Orridge’s innocent ears hearing this 12″ slab of wax, to be fair one track sounds a little like someone hoovering up while a girl is being strangled!

Anyway, I thought it was all slightly ironic at the time, as my mother did not approve of Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV seeping through her floorboards when I was very much younger and living at the family home! Parents huh?

Rosemarys Baby was the musical arm of Ricerche Studi Babalon (R’SB), the Italian ‘access point’ of the Temple Ov Psychick Youth (T.O.P.Y.), which issued tapes, booklets, bulletins and videos.

R’SB main man was Pier Luigi Zoccatelli. His ideas were rooted in Aleister Crowley’s Thelema and Magick, later turning into Guenonian Christianism.

There was a rumour that he was a practising Satanist which was based on the fact that for R’SB first performance, Pier Luigi plastered the streets of Verona with posters, drawn up in the typical style of Italian funeral notices, simply announcing that “Rosemary’s Baby is born”. Unfortunately the local media thought that these posters announced the creation of a new group of Satanists in Verona.

Since Rosemary’s Baby days, Zoccatelli has decided to wander down the rather dubious route of the Alleanza Cattolica (Catholic Alliance). KYPP or myself do not endorse or share the views of this right wing fundamentalist christian organisation.

Never heard it. Don’t like the self-harming imagery though… And always thought Temple of Psychick Youth were fucking elitist, smug and very dodgy – but hey, I’m all for personal choice… 😉

Thinking of Zocatelli’s route – wasn’t it Baudelaire who noted that the only paths for a lapsed Catholic were suicide or a return to the Mother Church
(as evidenced in Huysmans’ later works)?

Hello thanks for sharing – I only saw this in books or very very high priced on collectors fairs and I am a PTV Freak since the early days…

Thank you greatly for providing this. I really enjoyed it and wouldn’t have ever found it otherwise, I’m sure.
