Blood And Roses – Audiodrome Records – 1985

Some Like It Hot

Paradise

A couple of years after Blood And Roses debut 12″ was released, the public was exposed to a new record by this fine band, with a different bassist and drummer, the core remained the same in Lisa Kirby and Bob Short. A great Johnny Thunders type guitar lick goes through the A side with a vengence, this track really stands out…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOB, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOB, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR BOBBY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOB!

Today is Bob Short’s Birthday and we at KYPP online wish him well, and we are glad that he made it through those times which are well documented in his book ‘Trash Can, Tales Of Low Life Losers And Rock And Roll Sleaze’.

I read the ‘day the country died’ book when I went to Australia earlier this year. Two days in, suffering from jet-lag, wide awake at 5am and reading the blood and roses page only to discover Bob Short was from Wollongong, which is where I was staying. Not that exciting I suppose, and my girlfriend wasn’t that interested either when i woke her to tell her.

Bob still plays live gigs, if in Sydney watch out for a band called Full On. We’ll put up some of Bob’s latter day music soon –

    Unless we have already.

Happy Birthday for yesterday mate, have a creative and fulfilling year in all you do.

That ‘Paradise’ takes me back a bit. A rehearsal room in Islington, circa 1980, I think… Good Work Fella!

A message from Bob Short formally of Blood And Roses: “I have just heard some terrible news. Ralph has just sent a message to tell me that Lisa of Blood and Roses has had a brain haemorrhage and it looks very bad. Very bad. What I hear, I’ll pass along but obviously I am on the other side of the world and, this is all I can tell you at the moment. Sorry to be the bearer of such sad news”.

Sadly Lisa did not recover from the trauma. A sad day indeed. Condolences to Lisa’s family and friends from all at Kill Your Pet Puppy.
