November 26, 2007 at 4:13 pmGreat Stuff!! Hope you’ll put up ‘Topics For Discussion’ and ‘2nd Dark Age’ as well – IMO the best stuff The Apostles ever recorded.

November 27, 2007 at 1:25 amYeah, Chris mate – will like to stick all 13 of the demos up at some point!
Nah just kidding – they did some rotten ones – Stuck this one up first cause it had John Apostle and Martin Apostle on, and I think it is pretty good.
Topics for discussion next followed by Swimming In The Sea Of Life then probably back to 2nd Dark Age and the first tape…how is the remix thingy getting on?
PS – Will stick ‘Will I Ever Be Free’ the 6th demo on cos you are drumming on some tracks on that one!

November 27, 2007 at 11:04 amAm I? News to me!! Must be some old studio outtakes from the early singles. never heard that demo – not sure i’d want to 😉
Anyway, the best Apostles stuff IMO was the demos recorded before I joined. Yes, will have to get on the case with further remastering of the tapes. Think the CD should be out in the new year, all going well.

November 27, 2007 at 7:50 pmAmazing stuff seeing this one, used to hang out with John ‘Apostle’ around Stoke Newington/Hackney amongst other haunts (John is sadly rumored to be deceased so I heard a few years back from Tom Vague) John once destroyed a tape I had of the Apostles, I played it once to wind him up, but never played it again as it was shredded! He obviously had some bad memories of being in the band and being associated with some of the other members for his own personal reasons. Some good memories still linger of those times even so.
Keep up the downloads people, great to hear some of those classics from way back when! 😀

November 28, 2007 at 1:33 amAnother blinding good post! The Apostles were “THE” band for me. At the moment I am buying loads of the tapes (as cds) from BBP, and while I’m waiting for them, this is making me a very happy puppy – cheers!

November 28, 2007 at 2:52 amGood for you for supporting Goggs at BBP, did not know he was still active…will stick some more tapes on soon though as mentioned above.

November 28, 2007 at 7:37 pmFAO IRISHDAVE: well, i’d certainly be up for getting copies of the first FIVE demos on CD off you if you’d be up for doing some swaps. You can get my email via Penguin. Chris Low (ex Apostles drummer)

November 28, 2007 at 8:10 pmChris let me know what you want – I have all 22 demos (sad but true)
irishdave
November 29, 2007 at 1:18 amWell, BBP will do them onto cd for £5 + p&p But I guess I can do that for you Chris – but I would have thought that an ex-Apostle ( Apsotate? 🙂 ) would have them? Ah well, funny old world. I don’t mind letting you have my e-mail – can Penguin arrange an email swap?
irishdave
November 29, 2007 at 1:19 amI should have said £5 each

November 29, 2007 at 1:39 amCheck out pic of Chris in 1982 at Centro Iberico on the Conflict single that was uploaded last week…Dave I will send Chris your details…like I say all first six demos will be up when I can be arsed, so you could just rip them from here at some point maybe…
Chris
November 29, 2007 at 2:10 amIRISHDAVE, aye, i’ve still got my old cassette copies but would be great to be able to listen to ’em on CD. PS: should have thought; if you’re on Myspace you can contact me direct as i’m in the KYPP and Apostles ‘top friends’. Cx

November 29, 2007 at 2:27 amwot – and give away my secret myspace identity? 🙂 Ah why the hell not –
an Penguin sir – I have already paid for the cds and expect them in the next few days. I find it odd that for ages people have been asking me to “turn that rubbish off” and now I have e-talked with more folk this week that like/d the band than I ever did in real world

December 1, 2007 at 11:21 amAh, great stuff…
It’s about time these old demos got around a bit – I was always really enamoured of the 2nd line-up (when Andy Martin replaced Bill Corbett) but that was probably because that was the line-up when I first heard the band…
The 2nd/3rd/4th/5th demos are classic…some great songs, particularly the more ‘experimental’ pieces…
Andy and Dave put our band on a the Recession Klub in 1983 so large thanks to them…
I was with Chris at that Conflict gig at the Centro (the live recording) – the reason being that The Apostles played too: top notch…
Penguin – any chance of getting some Black Flag / Black Cross and Libertarian Youth recordings up here as well? Or – for that matter – The Witches or Flack…

December 1, 2007 at 2:25 pmHope so, will be checking Louise for some Witches stuff in her attic at some point soon.
Chris
December 1, 2007 at 7:01 pmI should still have one of those old 120 minute tapes Andy did for me eons ago which i think has all the recordings ever made by The Witches, Flack. Primal Scream, Black Flag, Heretics, LOOSD, Libertarian Youth etc. Plus others of AOH and the Snails/WitchHunt. Will try to hunt them out when I go back to to my old dear’s over Christmas.
Still see Mitch of Flack/Hagar about quite often as he’s doing sound engineering for lots of bands now.
