This one is the original on Kings Road Records Stewey, you have the one repressed on Rough Trade/Kings Road.

Lol! I can see we’re going to have a ‘Who’s got the original original’ vinyl slanging match here! I DO have this EP on Kings Road records actually, so – *pokes tongue out* – would you like me to send you a scan of the cover? (as one vinyl junkie to another, I mean). Completely different! Inside, the record has a plain white label with just the names of the songs stamped roughly on – on the wrong sides, too, as it happens…

It sez ‘Pressed at Lyntone – 1st 1,000 ยฃ213 Further 1,000s ยฃ140 labels too expensive’ and ‘Sleeves 2,000 ยฃ110 by Delga, Kent. We didn’t want to but what else do we do?’ and sez ‘We are N Parsons, R Harty (H Greene, B Forsyth did not show up) – lol!

RT033 is the matrix number for the repress. I have it also…

Lol! I have no idea what a matrix number is or where I would find it – I’m not THAT much of a vinyl junkie!
But mine is pressed as the first ever microchip record for the microchip record players that were just coming out then, you had to have them implanted under your earlobe with a very small syringe – do you remember that? God it hurt. And a new stylus was a bugget to fit, too… ๐Ÿ˜‰

You give up then? HA I win…I win…HA I win…I win…repeat for twenty minutes please Stewey.

PS The matrix is the bit scratched into the plastic, the plastic is the round thing in the sleeve, the sleeve is…oh I give up!

In terms of the sleeve, there are numerous versions of this single before Rough Trade picked it up: there are 4 different covers for the Kings Road version (I’ve seen them all at one time or another – ma femme is a TVP’s aficianado)…

I’m afraid, Penguin, that your copy is actually the 2nd press!
    ๐Ÿ™‚
Stewart has either the 1st pressing or the 4th: Stewart – does your front cover have ‘Television Personalities’ or ‘TV Personalities’ written on it?

The first O-Level single went for about ยฃ80 on ebay the other day…

It has TV Personalities at the top with a picture of a man in a suit with no head on it!

I fear we won’t be hearing from Penguin on this site for a month or two now whilst he takes a long holiday to get over the shock of not having the first pressing… (*winks*)

Then, my friend, I’m afraid you have the 4th pressing!

So, Penguin may return to gloat…but – as you rightly point out – he may be shattered by the body blow pressing-wise…

I am a broken man…broken…very bad news ’bout the first pressing.
My one has the Bushell ‘Sounds’ letter on, so that makes up for it.
Bushell is a god Oi Oi Oi.
Sorry ’bout that I did say I was a broken man…

My one’s got blank labels, Television Personalities and and a black square (probably a badly copied photo) on the front cover with a picture of The Beatles on the rear.
    Do I win any coolpoints?

Sorry Luggy still annoyed at not having the original original.
Still like I say I have Bushell autograph, to go with my Lemmy and Rat Scabies ones.

Lol! Well, what’s funny about all this though is – why does it matter?!?! Some obscure 1970s punk group press 1,000 copies of their single and 30 years later someone’s flogging it on eBay for ยฃ80,000. Isn’t that the antithesis of what punk was all about in the first place?
Though there IS something delicious about having one of those first copies, caressing the vinyl, smelling the paper, absorbing the cultural vibrations… hey, it’s on eBay you say? Be back in a minute – just popping to the bank

PS Anyway, Penguin, shouldn’t you be working away tirelessly uploading my rare and priceless cultural punk gems instead of sobbing loudly into your breakfast Special Brew? ๐Ÿ˜‰

And don’t you have a job to go to?!?! Some things never change, eh?

ALSO – no Twelve Cubic Feet stuff on this site?!?! Now that IS an outrage!

Luggy – yours is the 3rd pressing, so you’re still in ‘cool points’ territory…

Of course its doesn’t matter, Stewart…apart from the fact that it may to some people and it can be rather pleasurable to wind them up about it…
    ๐Ÿ˜‰

We’ve ALL got priceless gems, Stewart: my collection (for it is such) is bursting…
    ๐Ÿ™‚
(however, I don’t have much time to add to the uploads – but everyone else is doing that nicely)

Yes, but we want to see YOUR priceless gems too Nic! You’ve probably got something others would die to have a copy of – it’s good to share! ๐Ÿ™‚

PS I know what you mean about time, though – I can only spend so much time here ‘cos I’ve just finished a degree course and my new job doesn’t start until August lol

The copy I have is blank label, with serial number LYN 5976 -ICRS and LYN 5977-ICRS on it which I think makes it 1978. Funny thing is it sat in my record box for years without me knowing what it was – just a blank record. Got similar blank record that turned out to be Tube Disaster.
