December 31, 2007 at 9:57 pmAnyone know how I can get a hold of the guys from Ritual? Errol Blyth or Mark Bond? I have a label and would like very much to do a CD/LP version of Songs For A Dead King. I have been searching for over a year now with almost no leads at all. Any help would be amazing.
Thanks

January 2, 2008 at 2:09 pmThe FURYO section of the forums on the UK DECAY website has some stuff on RITUAL, so maybe that might be a place to start.
Hope you are successful – would love to see the Peel session on CD especially!

January 15, 2008 at 5:07 pmI would love to hear the peel sessions too.
Caleb – if you are still trying to track down Mick Mercer, I noticed he posts over at the TalkPunk site quite a bit.

Hope that helps

April 26, 2008 at 3:27 pmRitual – first band i ever got to know. They mostly lived within a few streets of where i grew up in Harrow and were top guys. The night they split up, Mark and Errol came to the first gig by my (short-lived and not very good) band and did not tell any of us (all of us were Ritual fans) about the end of the band. That had to wait til the next day when Jamie told me he and Ray had joined Death Cult! My respect for Ritual soared at that point.
I’d love to hear the peel session too.
Wish I still had a contact for any of them. Last I saw of any of them was bumping into Jamie at The Underworld shortly after he had finally left The Cult.

April 26, 2008 at 3:32 pmJust looked at UK Decay website and UK Decay appear to be playing in Luton with Rubella ballet on 7th June! people on their list dont appear as well informed on Ritual as the Puppy crew however.

May 28, 2009 at 7:40 pmThis is fantastic, the only version of ‘Waiting for the man’ that’s any good at all…
I’ve gotta say though, your search fuction is rubbish, I put in ‘Ritual’ and ‘song for a dead king’ and got nothing.
I actualy found these pages by doing a google search and getting some dodgy german goth page which pointed me back to you…
I know there is a live UK Decay post on here somewhere, but all I get via the search function is the ‘ Black ep’ post – which is fantastic by the way…
Minor quibbles, this is a great site, it’s just going to take me a while to search through each and every page, but worth the effort.

May 28, 2009 at 8:28 pmSome more Ritual here:
https://www.killyourpetpuppy.co.uk/news/?p=680
The search function does not just take in the header of the post, but the whole text within the post as well which can be confusing.
If you search for The Mob for instance you will get reams of posts that have The Mob mentioned in the text for example a Blood And Roses or Flowers In The Dustbin download. Of course you will also find all The Mob’s goodies but having to go all through loads of other posts just because they are mentioned is a pain. Something to work on I think.

July 23, 2010 at 4:21 pmthanks, where was ritual from?

July 26, 2010 at 9:56 amRay, they came from Harrow on the edge of the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines. They used to play at a pub near Harrow on the Hill tube station called The Roxborough. Quite a few gigs with Sex Gang Children and other bands of the day.

July 26, 2010 at 12:22 pmJamie the bassist and Ray the drummer from Ritual joined Death Cult with Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury, which then morphed in The Cult.
Ray the original Death Cult drummer did not continue into The Cult though although Jamie did continue.
The vinyl is here:

July 26, 2010 at 5:56 pmthanks, a friend made me a cd once of southern death cult, i can’t remember what it is since i havent listened to it in about a year, i can’t find it also, but i remember i really like it, i think it was a st lp.
along the lines of the more gothy death rock stuff i recomend an 80s nyc band called of a mesh, they had a couple eps out i think. i downloaded em somewhere i don’t remember, if interested i’ll upload the rars.
the singer from the cult sang for van halen for a little while too, but i’ve never been a fan of van halen.

August 31, 2010 at 12:31 pmYeah, Ray then joined Sex Gang Children but got caught out when coming back from playing in the USA as his visa had expired and he was sadly sent back to Sierra Leone.

February 4, 2011 at 5:17 pmErrol now works for Corral/Sky Sports as a greyhound racing commentator
Haven’t seen him in years, don’t know what happened to Bondy – if you do contact them, pass on my email – we hung out for years before and during Ritual

February 6, 2011 at 6:07 pmSurprised no one has mentioned that Ritual played at the Centro Iberico with Southern Death Cult. Around the same time as the Apostles/Conflict/Omega Tribe show that my recording of is posted here. I used to have the poster for that show but fuck knows what became of it. Nic may even have been at the gig and I recall them being featured in Miles’s fanzine Twisted Nerve’ so they may be able to enlighten you further.
