Just over a month ago now, on June 14th, the nasty Streamline hosting snatched all the downloads from this site without any kind of warning. We are now no longer with said hosting site and Penguin is in the process of setting things right again.
OK, a decision has been made for the mp3 hosting.
Media Fire is what the site will be using.
In the next few weeks I will be re-uploading the old posted mp3 material onto the posts on this site.
Only when I have finished with the old uploads will I start loading up other new material on this links / downloads and post 86 pages.
I will be either re-uploading and sorting out the links from the most recent post (Lack Of Knowledge) downwards to the earliest post way back 10 months ago, or reuploading from my MP3 harddrive (in numerical then alphabetical order) and then search the site for the posts concerned.
Will be expermenting in the next couple of nights with both systems to check which is faster and easier for me to get the old posts correct.
Please be patient and keep checking back to check whether links work, also please let me know if a link is incorrect in any way, like the A side tracklisting is on the B side link and visa versa – that kind of thing.
If I choose not to re-upload a past post, I will keep the post up with all the old comments on, but will leave a big message saying NOT UPLOADABLE underneath the actual link.
Hope this all works out.
UPDATE 23/07/08: All downloads (950 of the buggers) have now been switched to Mediafire and are playable right NOW – please let me know of any errors with the tracks though…think I entered everything correctly but you never know!
New material up from 25/07/08.

July 15, 2008 at 11:17 pmYay!
To be honest pengy i would just knock it all on the head and start with new stuff.
Most die hard loyal kypp.co.uk readers have got the downloads they want and you have the rest of your life to reupload the old stuff. (If you want to be a perfectionist about it you can go back and delete the old links and replace them with the word “GONE”)
Spend some time with your family, and give us a bit of new stuff to keep everything ticking over mate! Then you can upload the back catalogue on a rainy day when everyone has ‘flu.

July 16, 2008 at 8:33 amGood stuff.
But I agree with John, there is no point in knocking yourself dead trying to catch up.
Its your call tho, of course

July 16, 2008 at 9:48 amThanks for the concern guys…the reason I am reuploading the posts is not for the KYPP regulars, but for the browsers that will be interested in the future, added to that it took me a long time to set up the posts in the first place so it is a shame to see them die out. Secretly though, I am also a bit obsessive compulsive and I will not be able to concentrate on new stuff until I get the old stuff sorted out, just my make up really!
The new system is quite easy to sort anyway, and I did cover two months of material in about four hours last night. I will be doing a marathen session today hopefully so the ‘few weeks’ above hopefully may turn into quite a bit less real time (assuming no proplems with Media Fire come up – like the size of the files on my account – they advertise ‘unlimited’ but you never know).

July 16, 2008 at 10:23 amI had a quick furtle around this morning and you do seem to have uploaded loads of stuff already, and you are right, if I had not found this site a few months ago I would be miffed that I had missed out on some goodies. My car was blasting out with the Bad Brains gig this morning. It woke me up !!
As for new stuff….go on give us a taster of where you are heading next !!

July 16, 2008 at 8:44 pmGreat. I for one will be taking advantage of your OCD and exploring music I didn’t get the opportunity to download before the site went down. More power to you and thanks for your efforts.

July 17, 2008 at 7:46 pmCan I suggest a brand new stand-alone thread where people can post useful links to music hosted on other sites? I thought about this previously when I posted some links to 2 great Ants bootlegs and realised as I did it that once the thread ran out of steam the links would barely be seen again by anybody.
This way the links would stay “alive” if people keep adding to the thread and it would make a fantastic repository of accessible music. Whaddya reckon?!

July 17, 2008 at 8:06 pmPS I should’ve said that this would compement the cornucopia which has been unleashed here but I trust that went without saying…

July 18, 2008 at 7:38 pmWorking my way backwards – all June/May/April/March posts are correct now. Now on Febuary. Should get to my tape of Crass in Iceland and all the support acts (KUKLs first performance) soon, think I uploaded it in Febuary.

July 18, 2008 at 9:33 pmIan, Crass Iceland back up now, got to it quicker than I thought. You will have to wait for the Crass interviews and practice tapes to be uploaded though. Think my tapes went up in november of that stuff.

I have been uploading into the early hours since Tuesday and all day today.
By the end of tonight the only download months needing updating are November / December 2007. Which I hope to do throughout Sunday and Monday.

July 20, 2008 at 8:58 amSterling work Penguin, an inspiration to all of us obsessives everywhere! I have especially loved the reggae you have put up – ‘New Civilisation’ – what a track! But it has been just as cool to listen to a live gig from Rubella Ballet or Bad Brains. Well done

July 23, 2008 at 11:53 pmOK puppy friends – all 950 downloads (or 10GB memory)now work again.

July 24, 2008 at 7:38 pmNew material on Friday?!?! But today’s only Thursday, Penguin. Jesus, people are going to begin to question your commitment mate… Particularly since running to Babylon for a court order when you well know Bobo is over the age of consent and responsible for her own actions

July 28, 2008 at 11:36 amDunno if this is the right place to do it, but has anyone got a cd or MP3s of Nicodemus’s Gun Man Connection (from about ’83 I think)?
Used to have it on vinyl but it got stolen – the usual story 🙁

July 28, 2008 at 8:40 pmPenguin you are a hero amongst us lesser mortals. How you did it I don’t know, but thank you for all your efforts.
We’ll have to work on multiple Media Fire accounts at some point.
There’s also some way of making a podcast, which is exciting. We can put out a weeks worth of downloads in one bite-size chunk. Maybe with words (interviews) and stuff too.
My word, the Electric Puppy!
We can also do a Puppy TV station from right where we’re standing now.
Nurse, the screens.
From various comments in this thread – a dedicated area, ‘thread’?, on here concerned with links to available music. Good idea.
Be-bop Deluxe t-shirt? Yes, and that’s me wearing it, a charity shop treasure. Pic drawn by Jo Brocklehurst.
