Kill Your Pet Puppy Spring Picnic May 3rd 2009

The Filter Beds are marked Nature Reserve. If you’re late the entrance is on the river towpath just down from the bridge. More info on Filter Beds including link to journey planner here:

It’s a 10 minute walk from Clapton overground staion.

Buses that go past along Lea Bridge Rd are:

55 to Oxford St, Old St

If it rains, there are plenty of trees around or nice walks to be had as well as a riverside pub nearby. Not that near any shops so you’ll have to bring provisions & poisons with you.

I’m pissed at Boris. Rise was the the best London festival.

We used to take the kids to the Filter Beds when we lived at Brooke Road, although they were wilder originally – then they got improved/made more accessible which made visits less of an adventure.

Yeah, it was better when it was just a derelict, overgrown site. Remember climbing over the wall to get in with my sprog a fair few times. Still a nice place though, I think it’s still shut weekdays outside of school holidays.
They’ve made Walthamstow Marshes more accessible these days as well, used to enjoy crouching under railway bridge & trying to avoid getting our feet wet crossing between the back of the recreation ground & the cruising triangle.

I will be bringing nine signed copies of Bob’s new book Filth to the picnic, not sure how much they are yet but probably not a lot. (Bob Short that is by the way). His first book was very well written and amusing, reckon this one will be a good read also. By the time of the picnic I would have read it anyway so will be able to tell any interested parties the full s.p.
Good luck with the wedding on mayday Bob.

I got my ten copies sent over from Bob himself in time for the picnic on Sunday.

That doggie belongs to Gary who will be there on Sunday. There are two of the little blighters.

what a civilised picnic we had, mind i left before it got deranged probably…..lovely and inspiring to meet up with you all. Filth is flippin ace, read it too quickly, hilarious and completely evoked those bonkers times…..[ the london ones]

    Doh…
I could have posted any witicisms here, instead of the calender thread…
My lack of on d line skills continue to astonish me.
In fact the whole on d line continues to do that.
I’m back on the fag ash ponging net cafe round the corner where I belong, cos mine’s down…
Looked like a great picnic. Bummer I couldnt get there.
I was thinking about it all day. Was gonna send a hello to all via Jah Pork to get on his mobile device but it all went down d line.
Mr P if theres any of them Mr Bob books still unsold i’m up for one.
    Hope everyone is super fab
    Jake
