The above photo of this magnificent steam engine has nothing to to with the following.
Just found a 9000 word article by Richard Cross who is / was writing a book about anarchist punk called “The Hippies Now Wear Black”. It was originally published in a Socialist magazine but have forgotten the name. But not Socialist Worker
Have put it here on Greengalloway. If you read it, and think it worthy of inclusion in KYPP, please comment to that effect.

February 9, 2008 at 9:53 pmfair enough. leaves some unanswered questions that still circulate for someone like me who was well outside the urban centres of activity and without any direct collective sharing of enthusiasm for the scene. Yet for me, and I’m sure for many others, the anarcho scene was what we identified with as bedrock of a political identity even if it didn’t mix well with the others with whom you lived. In that sense the scene did stretch well beyond its immediate limits and caused more change than is easily identifiable by the flags waved at the time.

As to the image, how about some technical drawings of the mechanical and hydraulic systems of locos? Now that IS interesting….or clockwork, I’ve always liked clock mechanisms….

February 10, 2008 at 11:01 pmFull text posted – and found a technical drawing of a steam train to illustrate- a new one, but not built yet. I trained as a draughtsman at London Rubber but never had to draw anything so complictaed. But I did once have to make Durex Nu-form condoms slightly bigger around the glans end.
