November 26, 2007 at 4:15 pmha! I was at that gig. Conflict played with the Apostles, Riot/Clone, Omega Tribe and Icons of Filth. There’s some photos from it up on the Apostles myspace.

September 8, 2008 at 2:36 pmNew Gathering of the Thousands gigs 2009 announced on Conflicts Myspace site…After a disappointing 2008, with many gigs cancelled due illness, hopefully Colin’s neck is better.

September 8, 2008 at 7:58 pmI was at this gig as well with Chris and Miles/Rat…
I had just turned 14 so my memory is pretty hazy (apart from The Apostles setlist, of course, Penguin š ), but I seem to remember it being quite a balmy summer evening…

June 22, 2009 at 11:07 amI have uploaded one track (1824 Overture) from Conflict’s set at the Iberico with Rubella/ Amsterdamned/ Assassins of Hope. Don’t know the date I’m afraid…

The recording is not great due to a defective guitar amp, but is one of those ‘great Conflict moments’.
If anyone is interested, I will upload the whole of Conflict’s set, but the sound is a bit ropey to say the least.
I have a tape of the whole set that they took the “Live @ Centro Iberico” single from, but again the sound is not great. Once I have cleaned it up and EQed it I stick that up as well.
Also Turkey Bones Demo tape to come…

February 21, 2015 at 12:04 amFrancisco ‘Paco’ Carreno: 1966 -2015
I was in the year above him at school, but we were never really close. I knew him mainly through my friend Hester, and once he joined Conflict, we drifted even further away from each other, partly because he was busy doing band stuff, but partly because I didnāt want to think I was doing that āHereās my mate Paco. Heās in Conflict, you know. And weāre mates. Did I mention he was in Conflict?ā thing. I donāt think I ever even tried to blag on the guest list even though Conflict were one of my favourite bands.
Given that the Anarcho scene was so small and Eltham was smaller still, Iām surprised I didnāt bump into more often, but at Conflict gigs he was always busy doing āConflict stuffā, and I didnāt want to bother him, but on the occasions I did talk to him properly, he was always friendly (and fucking funny). Sitting by The Woolwich Ferry waiting for the SWP to pull their finger out for a protest march (what we were protesting about is lost in the mists of time), with Conflict and The Redskins playing on the back of flatbed to about 100 punks and assorted SWP dullards, a Theatre of Hate bootleg screaming out of my ghetto blaster.
Cheering me up after being dumped by my first girlfriend at some piss-poor gig in a scout hut in Mottingham.
Making me laugh so much at a Gunshot/ Chumbawamba gig at the Brixton Fridge that I forgot I was supposed to fuck off and see Sepultura at the Academy, meaning I missed them doing āState Violence, State Controlā with Cal on vocals.
The last time I saw him to talk to was at the Amebix gig at The Underworld in 2009, and we hadnāt communicated properly since then. The last contact I had from him was a invitation to play Candy Crush on Facebook a few days ago, which I ignored like all the other ones heād sent me. I almost messaged him to give him grief about it, but I never got round to it, which is a shame.
He was always friendly and generous with his time, when he had no need or reason to be, and I should have made more of an effort to stay in touch, but I guess were getting to that age, when weāre going to start losing people, and regretting that we didnāt make that phone call, or go to that gig…
Iām actually a lot more upset than I thought I would be. Itās kind of crept up on me in the last couple of hours, and I think Iām going to get drunk now. Itās what he would have wanted.

May 4, 2015 at 7:00 pmVery sorry to hear this news. Conflict were one of my favourite bands from around that time. Even though I only got to see them live three or four times. Yet another person from that scene passes. R.I.P.
