    Brilliant band! anyone any idea what every happened to them or the members(or Six Minute War, who I believe shared a few members with Fallout) ? I’ve got a live tape of them which i’ll try to dig out at Xmas.

    When Six Minute war split up, Rob Taylor joined Concrete (he was on their first ep ‘Ghoulish practices’) with Andrew Beer, and was also in the first version of 400 Blows (appearing on the first single and LP)…

    Half of Six Minute War went on to form Fallout. They released 2 singles, an album, a 10” and had tracks on about 3 compilation releases…

    They were pretty unreliable gig-wise: our band were due to play 2 gigs with them in 1986 but they didn’t make it to either gig…
    They did play in Birmingham in 1986, but that was the last I heard of them – they just vanished…

    You can download from the Rapidshare website without having to sign up and pay for it by choosing the ‘Free Download’ choice button. You then follow the steps, and get the download…
    However, there is a restriction on how much you can download as a free user: generally, if you download 1 file, you have to wait 24 hours before you can download another…which is a nightmare when you find a nice ‘sharity blog’ with great recordings and then realise that every file is stored as a download from Rapidshare!

    Got to agree with what’s already been posted regarding Fallout, excellent band. Never as popular as they should have been I thought. I got the “Butchery” 10″ and the “Salami Tactics” e.p. but I never managed to get the “Home Killed Meat” LP (I guess it’s like rocking horse shit to get hold of now). Yeah, I often wondered what happened to them too. Not a great deal on the net regarding them either, shame. Great band.

    Fallout recorded an LP worth of material which was going to be released by Mortarhate, but it never materialised. It contains some superb songs, notably ‘Bulldog Bullshit’ which was popular live.
    They were a difficult group of people to categorise – certainly not anarcho-punks though connected to the scene.
    They played gigs in Coventry and Birmingham in 1986 (if I remember rightly) and had a fair turn-out at both the Hand and Heart and the Mermaid. They actually played a second gig in Coventry months later and were supported by Napalm Death whose…erm approach to music was a source of great amusement to the band.
    They were never a proper gigging, touring outfit but they were superb live, so a shame more people didn;t get the chance to see them.
    Criminally under-rated, Fallout’s ‘Brutality’ was for me possibly the best record to have some out of the scene.
    I wonder what they’re doing now?

    Thanks for that mccormick, particularly for reminding me that we (Napalm Death) HAD actually played that concert with Fallout…I have the flyer still, but – for some reason – thought that it hadn’t happened…

    I’d love to hear that LP…

    Never knew they’d recorded an albums worth of material, would love to get a copy of that. Last thing I heard by them was the “Aids charade” track on that Mortarhate comp. I never got the chance to see them live, I always got the impression that they didn’t play alot of gigs back then. Yeah, I wonder what happened to them?

    I have a big box of old cassettes and I hope (just moved house) that the Fallout final album is in there as I’ve just bought one of them tape to Mp3 gizmos and I’d be well sick if after all these years I’d lost that album. I’m almost scared to look…gulp!

    The only thing I’d be hesitant about is the fact that Fallout seem incommunicado and for all we know might not want the ‘album’ released for some reason…

    Yes indeed, ND played support to Fallout that night. A bit of a contrast! I think I asked ND because they were very regular at the Hand and Heart and had a fair following. I suspected Fallout would find it interesting.

    Fallout were great live, given they hardly ever gigged and didn’t seem to take it very seriously. Well, actually they did take it very very seriously politically. They were a nice bunch, expecially Charlie. I think they were into motorbikes. They were chuffed that people knew their songs the second time in Coventry – lots of people had bought Butchery off them first gig and some also knew songs like Bulldog Bullshit after the unreleased tape had been passed around the Cov punk scene.

    A band most deserving of the retrospective treatment. Had previously only heard said comp. track “Aids Charade” from We Won’t Be Your Fucking Poor plus Six Minute War EP A Touch Act To Follow.

    Thanks for that Mccormick, yeah I can understand why your a bit hesitant about sharing the final album with people, it’s a bit difficult as no one seems to know what happened to them after they’d split (please fill in the gaps if anyone knows anything ?), probably impossible to get in touch with any of them, unless they happen to read any of this ! But I gotta say I’d be very interested in hearing said album. Damn shame it never got released, a band that was vastly overlooked considering some of the crap that was doing the rounds back then !

    I was handed the Home Killed Meat LP years ago by the old vocalist of my band. I suppose it was to show me an influence of his. He did sound somewhat like the guy in Fallout. Anyway, I got a copy I’d be into either sellng or trading. The vinyl and cover are both in great shape. It also comes with a 2 page story about their follies at making the album.

    Knew a guy who put Fallout on at the Hand and Heart in 1980’s and they apparently spent a bomb in the ex-army store next door. Great band who I found innovative lyrically and musically-quite an achievement with all the Crass clones of the time. They were anti Anarchist but very Leftist and i’d love to get hold of “Home killed meat” sometime.

    Not sure if you’ve seen this but some fine individual has uploaded all fallout’s stuff to a file-share site – from vinyl, so the quality isn’t pristine but still excellent. Here’s the link to HK Meat but you can also find Butchery (which I reckon is the best stuff they did) and other bits including the superb Salami Tactics single. If you have any trouble just try a google search on band and record name, it should come up high-up the results.

    Also check out the blogspot site for links to other rare ’80s era punk demos and forgotten vinyl. Gabesuk82 deserves some kind of medal or large reward.

    Fallout really were superb and far smarter than most other bands of their time and ilk. Anyway, here’s the file-sharing link:
