Rudimentary Peni … can’t say I was /am a great fan of the music, but a couple of years ago Tinsel sent me a copy of Nick Blinko’s book ‘The Primal Screamer’ (going for $100 on Amazon USA) and which includes mentions of the Wapping A Centre. The cover art work jolted my brain cells and after much sorting through the archives found this cover of Chaos International 3 from 1987 -credited to Nicholas Blinko. Chaos International was a magazine devoted to the chaos magic of the Illuminates of Thanateros. For many years it was edited by Ian Read – Current 93, Death in June, Sol Invictus .
If I was to delve even deeper into my archives, Nick also contributed art work to rival publication, Joel Biroco’s Chaos magazine – see http://www.biroco.com/
The delayed inspiration for Joel’s mag occurred at Stonehenge Free Festival 1984. With Chaos (later Kaos) he managed to wind up lots of people, including Genesis P. Orridge. In best Private Eye style, Joel discovered Gen had met UK head of Caliphate OTO and suggested this was part of plan to merge TOPY with the Caliphate. For some reason this outraged both parties.
I have no idea how Nick Blinko connected with these magazines and / or chaos magic, but does illustrate the strange overlaps of the time.

May 1, 2009 at 5:26 amRudimentary Peni’s 1987 “Cacophony” LP was all based around Nick Blinko’s then current obsession with the works of HP Lovecraft, who I know is extremely popular within occult communities (I know personally some OTO members who are into Lovecraft). In an interview Nick claimed to have gone out and purchased all of Lovecraft’s available works. Since Nick is somewhat of an obscure figure I’m not sure whether his interest in Lovecraft really hints at him being more involved in the occult/magic, but I thought I’d mention that.

May 1, 2009 at 4:01 pmAre the OTOers you know Typhonian or Caliphate? Kenneth Grant (Typhonian) started the occult Lovecraft ball rolling back in 1972 when he included HPL in “The Magical Revival”.
Not sure on Caliphate’s position of Lovecraft, but just found on Lashtal that they tried to halt distribution of KG’s book Hecate’s Fountain in the US of A.

May 1, 2009 at 5:59 pmUnless there are more than one OTOs in Eugene, Oregon, this must be them
http://www.cophnia-oto.org/ and from the website there is a fee paying link to main Caliphate OTO site… so they are Caliphates not Typhonians.
