Expect a right royal racket with some crazy bass playing. All glorious material though!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i192.photobucket.com\/albums\/z149\/pengy1966\/KYPP979.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"436\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tod and Martin of Flack, Southend<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i192.photobucket.com\/albums\/z149\/pengy1966\/KYPP978.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"435\" height=\"440\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Martha Moscow and Martin of Flack, Southend<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FLACK \u2013 used to rehearse in my attic at 109 Foulden Road, Stoke Newington, London \u2013 on a 1960s drum kit and amplifiers provided by Pete, Julian and Dan of The Apostles.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i192.photobucket.com\/albums\/z149\/pengy1966\/KYPP981.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"359\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Martha Moscow on bass guitar, playing the smallest bass guitar I have ever seen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i192.photobucket.com\/albums\/z149\/pengy1966\/KYPP982.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"435\" height=\"624\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Martin Black on guitar (no, not the Martin Black who later called himself Napoleon of Hackney Hell Crew fame, that\u2019s a different and decidedly more grubby but equally entertaining story).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i192.photobucket.com\/albums\/z149\/pengy1966\/KYPP984.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"433\" height=\"623\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tod Unctious on vocals, no, that\u2019s from Father Ted, sorry. Mag on drums.<\/p>\n<p>I remember Mag was 13 at the time and beyond doubt the most technically competent musician in the band, but then I\u2019m not a drummer so I\u2019m probably talking utter twaddle, it wouldn\u2019t be the first time, I hear you cry, but then I\u2019m allowed a certain degree of artistic license as I\u2019m a renaissance man\u00a0and I also have a complete set of P G Tips picture card albums from the very first one in 1954 right up to the Olympics Greats from 1993. Flack never recorded anything in a professional studio which is a shame, these\u00a0tracks were recorded\u00a0live on a cassette recorder\u00a0at 109 Foulden Road.\u00a0However, at least Tod achieved a degree of success later with his technically superb artistic skills. I lived with Martha in Islington for a few months when she had departed Flack to look after her baby son. Mitch took over bass duties and the difference in sound and style became profoundly dramatic on the tracks \u2018Drained\u2019 and \u2018The Workers\u2019 despite the extreme limitations of the recording process.
