Just don’t record anything. Last thing the world needs is another amazing band on the profaning-their-legacy bandwagon. Zounds was bad enough.

Seeing as it’s such nice weather, a few of us are meeting up by Castle Park bandstand (just across the river from The Fleece) from 6 tomorrow for a pre-gig picnic.

What about the others on the bill, or were only The Mob brilliant? Not at all surprised they were still good, would love to see them again myself. As their tunes were never ‘follow fashion’ their music still stands strong today, as haunting and inspiring as ever.

I think the situ here Dan is that Zounds and Rubella Ballet have been around in one form or another over the last few decades and perform on a semi regular basis. All the people I knew that were at the gig went to see The Mob perform for the first time in twenty eight years and with this original line up the first time in over thirty years. Not surprising that the other bands have been lost somewhat in the excitement of the event. For the record Idiot Strength (full band) were very good, The Mob fluffed some notes but that is understandable what with the nerves and the expectation on the band etc etc. Zounds, Rubella and Andy T were all fine and I did not see Insurection at all!

All the bands were good on the night I reckon. Insurrection were good in an a late 80’s/early 90’s hardcore way. Really enjoyed Rubella Ballet. Haven’t seen them in years….Had a massive U.V backdrop too. Zounds were on form and played a decent set, and of course THe Mob were brilliant….but you’ve already heard that I can imagine. Enjoyed Steve Corr’s band and Andy T too. Pity there were not enough people watching them, but I suppose most people headed off after The Mob set. Look forward to a similiar night in London or thereabouts (fingers crossed!).

Agree with sonny that all bands were great!!! Not only that but the atomsphere & vibe was awesome, superb!!! This gig brought many people together who had not seen each other in over 20 years (including myself) & it’s just hard to describe how good this gig was? In a nutshell, it was one of the best gigs I’ve been to in a very long time for the bands & vibe it was fantastic!!!

I hear what you’re saying Penguin. Just curious about the others – it sounded like a classic lineup from 1982 or 1983.
