Vince will be pleased to read this message G.O.T.P. if you go to post 86 section on the header above and scroll down (or search) for Earth Culture you will hear some great stuff that he is now involved in – also links to the man-god himself. He still hangs around in Edm****** quite a bit.

We did actually do one more 7″ single on Crass records that was recorded at Southern. It had ‘Ripper’ and ‘Mother’ as the two songs.
We spent some time on it and we were really pleased with the end result but Southern pulled the plug on it.

They said it cost too much to produce so it never got released until years later when Gary released the Black and White album with the two tracks on.

Ummm, I felt let down with the Chron Gen LP when released. Some great 7″ singles leading up to it and a decent live tape (all on this site somewhere) and when the LP arrived in the stores I run down to Small Wonder and what did I get? The singles, live tracks and one decent studio track ‘Hounds Of The Night’. Did come with a live 7″ though. Even that could not cover the disapointment. A real mismash on that LP. DIRT LP is alright (at least it is ALL live-ish) I hate LPs with studio tracks and like one or two live tracks – very messy and obviously normally means a labels desparate way to fill 20 odd minutes a side. The first single by DIRT is great though. Thats the only DIRT I have, 7″ / LP dont even know if you recorded anything else!

Initiallly we was going to record a 12″ at southern but someone suggested we do a live album (i don’t know why?). It may have something to do with cost as Crass and Southern studios prefered to concentrate on putting out mainly singles.
Or maybe it was due to the fact that Object Refuse might not have done as well as they had hoped and the idea of an album was a bit of a liability.

Whatever it was i must confess i was a little disapointed with the end result. Stiff records mobile unit recorded the album at the New Half Moon but they had a few dodgy microphones and we had to do overdubs. Generally live albums are hard to get right and we failed dismally.

How could anyone one possibly know i had broken that chair leg?.
Actually G took the picture when we was staying at our friend Ian’s house. It was just after a gig and i was a little bit worse for wear.
