Buzzcocks – Best In Good Food LP – Edible Records 1978

Intro (Boredom) / Fast Cars / Fiction Romance / Boredom / Sixteen / You Turn Me Up / Orgasm Addict / Pulsebeat

Love Battery / Times Up / What Do I Get / Noise Annoys / Walking Distance / Late For The Train / Can’t Control Myself

The first and one of the most well known bootleg Buzzcocks LP presenting snippets of various early live gigs and radio / TV sessions. Some tracks include original vocalist Howard Devoto, the segment of ‘Boredom’ and the 1978 reunion TV special ‘Can’t Control Myself’.  Great band, still rocking the masses. Even I turned out for a show and had a bit of a boogie (not pretty) in the bleaching sun of Finsbury Park a couple of years ago.

What a great post. Many thanks for this gem. I don’t suppose you have “Razorcuts” as well do you? If so, please could you post that too. Been trying to find that for years as well! Thanks again.

nice one for this, maybe its the geography involved though.
had anyone heard of ‘ralph nader’ mentioned on ‘fast cars’ all those decades ago?
i havent heard any refences to him in this years u.s election when he seemed to get some coverage on channel 4 here 4 years ago at the last u.s ‘democratic election’ as the only other candidate than republicans and democrats.

Ralph Nader is probably mentioned because he made his name as a consumer champion in 1965 by writing ‘Unsafe at any speed’ which was criticism of the US car industry focused on the Chevrolet Corsair made by General Motors and which had a design fault leading to numerous fatal crashes…

‘Unsafe at Any Speed’ was used as the title for an ep of raging Boston Hardcore back in 1982…Classi ep – full-on Gang Green track…
The EP was the follow-up to the seminal ‘This is Boston not LA’ comp LP which still blisters with its thrash intensity…

Oh, excellent! I had razorcuts ages back, till I had a box of records – with all my vinyl bootlegs – nicked one night at the Hope & Anchor!

    Thanks for the post!

While once priding myself on being somwhat of a ’77 punk obsessive back in the day, I hadn’t come across either of these releases. Good work guys in getting them up here.
Gotta say it’s just so great to hear these old songs again and after so many years. Was never entirely convinced by Pete Shelley’s vox, much more a fan of Devoto. Sadly, after an outstanding debut full length, the band seemed to slip a little with each successive release thereafter.

Cool Nick. Thanks for posting that. Wasn’t fully aware of the importance of Linder’s work ’til relatively recently. Not come across The Secret Public. Definitely intrigued.
